Young swimmers rescued from the sea off Clacton
3:40pm Wednesday 14th August 2013 in News
TWO young swimmers were taken to hospital after getting into difficulty at Clacton beach.
Tendring Council’s beach patrol team, ambulance crews and the Essex Air Ambulance were called to the Palace breakwater at about 1.40pm.
Three boys and a girl, all aged between 12 to 15, got into trouble while swimming close to the breakwater.
The beach patrol team pulled two of the youngsters from the sea onto the breakwater and the other pair were rescued by the beach patrol boat.
They were treated by the team, which includes First Responders, until paramedics arrived minutes later.
The beach was cleared for the air ambulance, but it was not required.
A spokeswomen for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “Two boys were taken to Colchester General Hospital by land ambulance for further assessment and treatment.”
The beach was reopened to the public by 2.30pm.
