Woman suffers Head Street fall
3:00pm Saturday 10th August 2013 in News
A WOMAN has demanded action be taken on a town centre street after she fell while crossing the road in Colchester.
Allyson Heaps was crossing Head Street from Debenhams when she tripped on the uneven road, sustaining two badly bruised wrists, bruises to her right side, knee and shoulder.
Mrs Heaps, who lives in Parsons Heath, said when she was taken in by staff at Moor’s beauty salon, in Head Street, who put ice on her wounds, she was told a number of people had fallen in the same place.
“How many people have to be injured before something is done?” said Mrs Heaps.
“I would be very happy if this could be repaired and it doesn’t happen to someone else.”
Mrs Heaps’ fall happened on Friday, August 2, at about 3.30pm.
An Essex County Council spokesman said: “An inspector has carried out a robust risk assessment of the area.
“The road defect has been recorded and identified as not requiring imminent repair, and will continue to be monitored through our routine inspection programme.”
