Open Road on hand to help revellers at V Festival
10:00am Monday 12th August 2013 in News
COLCHESTER charity Open Road will provide welfare services at Essex’s V Festival this weekend.
Anyone needing help will be able to visit the charity in the main arena and two campsites.
Wayne Powell, co-ordinator of the charity’s SOS Bus, will lead a team of 85 staff and volunteers who are experienced at supporting people enjoying Colchester’s nightlife at weekends.
He said: “Staff and volunteers are very skilled at recognising whether someone just needs a rest and a drink of water or whether they have a more serious problem.
“It’s great to be back at V Festival for the 8th year and working with the organizers, we also use this as a opportunity to promote the work of Open Road and raise awareness of issues around drug and alcohol misuse.”
Around 80,000 people are expected to attend this weekend’s event at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, where they will enjoy sets from Beyonce and Kings of Leon.
