A PROLIFIC burglar has been jailed for four years after being caught on camera with a bag of swag over his shoulder.
Rodney Geisha, 41, from Edith Road, Clacton, was photographed by a passerby as he walked away from a house in the town with a bag full of stolen items.
The witness took the photo on his phone and called the police after seeing Geisha jumping over a fence after breaking into a house at Wellesley Road on May 14.
A second witness followed him for several hundred yards while giving a running commentary of his route to a controller at Essex Police HQ.
Det Con Claire March of Clacton CID, said: "The two witnesses were brilliant and their quick-thinking has meant another burglar is behind bars.
I hope that this superb example of the public helping police to catch criminals will be an inspiration to everyone in the county."
Officers were quickly on scene following the calls and arrested Geisha in Watson Road.
His bag of "swag” was found to contain a laptop computer, X Box games, electric items, cash and two bottles of Jack Daniels, valued at a total of £1,500.
He had also caused £3,000 damage while breaking in and by ripping television from walls.
It is thought he was planning to take the TVs but he was disturbed and fled with only the items in the bag.
Geisha, who had previous convictions for burglary, pleaded guilty and was sentenced when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday.
