Inspirational youngsters win awards
INSPIRATIONAL youngsters have been honoured after they triumphed in the face of adversity.
Finalists in the Colchester Youth Awards were recognised for their courage, determination and perserverance.
The glitzy ceremony was staged at Colchester Institute and the nominees received a special message of congratulation from former college student, pop star Matt Cardle.
In a video message, he said: “Massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees of the Colchester Youth Awards.
“You have been nominated for achievement in your fields and that is something you should be really proud of. Have a wicked night, look after yourselves and have fun.”
The awards are in their ninth year and aim to recognise and honour youngsters who live, work or study in Colchester.
A speech was also made by former youth awards finalist Jordan Smith who was representing Disability4Sport.
Jordan, who is now 27, was born 14 weeks early and had cerebral palsy.
However, he went on to play football for England’s cerebral palsy team at the World and European championships.
