Could the public finally be allowed to speak at County Hall meetings?
4:36pm Tuesday 23rd July 2013 in News
MEMBERS of the public could finally be allowed to speak at Essex County Council meetings.
Council leader David Finch told a meeting he was open to the idea of allowing residents to pose questions at full council meetings for the first time.
Tuesday’s corporate scrutiny committee meeting was told there were issues to be resolved, including ensuring people do not reveal sensitive information in public.
A cross-party group of councillors will now be set up to look at this and other ways of reaching the public, such as roadshows and webchats.
