THERE were thrills and spills as stunt riders performed at a motorbike shop.

Colchester Kawasaki, at King Edward Quay, the Hythe, were taking part in a national demo weekend along with a family fun day.

The latest high-speed machines were on display and available to test ride, with Bike Safe offering training rides and feedback too.

There were also top prizes up for grabs including a track day and an off-road riding experience, in a raffle which raised cash for Help for Heroes and the Essex Air Ambulance.

World Superbike rider Tom Sykes also gave autographs, along with other top riders including up-and-coming local lad Mason Law.

Manager James Hogben said: “Despite the cold and wet weather we had more than 1,000 people turn up across the weekend, so it was extremely successful.

“People were buying bikes there and then after test riding them, and spectators also loved the stunt rider and meeting Tom.

“Watch this space for another event coming soon in the warmer weather.”

Owner Luke Gregory added: “I was very happy with the response from local residents and glad to help support the community too.”
