Musicians celebrate lottery award

MUSIC lovers and historians are celebrating after a bumper lottery grant was awarded to restore Colchester’s Moot Hall organ.


The Heritage Lottery Fund granted £416,000 to the project which will ensure the historic organ can be brought back into use.


Former Colchester mayor Nigel Chapman, who launched the appeal to save the organ 11 years ago, said: “I am delighted. It is absolutely brilliant.

Superb news but amazed that the Roman circus got down and this succeeds. Its going to make a tremendous difference to the Moot Hall functions. Well done Nigel Chapman and team.

would much rather have had the roman circus future secured, fingers crossed something can be done. should be one of if not the biggest selling points for the town but yet the council don't seem bothered, Tesco or another cheap nasty housing estate with more cheap sounding roman st names will be the only thing to show where it was
