Three hour computer fault at Brightlingsea surgery
12:36pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News By Will Lodge
DOCTORS could not access patient records after a computer system crashed for three hours.
Staff were left struggling at the Colne Medical Centre, in Station Road, Brightlingsea, this morning.
Practice manager Caroline Bowden said the problem was caused by a fault at the software provider’s main server in Leeds, and would have affected any surgeries using the system.
The fault was resolved shortly after 11am, and the surgery is moving to a new system next week.

Why have servers so far away, better to have them in surgery and backup nightly to off site storage, simple and concise solution. Also have a backup system running in parallel so if one goes down the other just carries on, these sorts of systems are fairly cheap in hardware these days.
