Maldon: Surgery parking is "disastrous" Maldon: Surgery parking is "disastrous"

Frustrated patients are calling for action over a severe lack of parking at a Maldon doctor’s surgery.

Austin Jenkins has branded the parking at Longfield Medical Centre “disastrous” after he was unable to access the car park to drop his wife off at the door.

Mr Jenkins, 68, of St Giles Crescent, Maldon, said: “My wife had to walk 200-300 yards because I had to drop her off near the council offices.

“She has serious hip problems and it was painful for her to have to walk that far."

A spokesman for the centre was unavailable to comment.

That looks like quite a spacious car park to me! Maybe it is the fault of some incompetent inconsiderate drivers.

One person complains over one episode. And as meadowlady says, it looks like a pretty big car park, bigger than you will find at most GPs' surgeries.
Is this really worth a story in the paper?

Maybe he should try parking at Parsons Heath Surgery in Colchester. A car park which regularly is full to overflowing and which cannot be viewed until you actually turn into it. Then you have to try and turn round to get out as it's full!

Maybe you should all try to park here, the row of cars you see next to the building are all reserved for doctors, rightly so. The road leading up to the surgery is single file and on a bend, you can not see any of the spaces till you get into the parking area, there are about 10 spaces for parking, if they are all full which is normally the case you have to turn around, try doing this when there are 3 or 4 cars behind you, i have spent at least 45mins trying to get a space to park there, just down the road is another doctors surgery with the same problem, along with the council offices and CAB offices, this is all located next to playing fields and a green area to walk through from the town, not all of us can walk that far.
So Meadolady it has nothing to do with incompetent or inconsiderate drivers, try standing on that point where the picture is taken and you will see it is not a spacious car park

Maybe you should all try getting smaller cars. Why is it necessary to visit a doctor's sugery in a 4x4?

Are you serious Im_Like? There is one 4x4 in the picture....if that happens to be the only car you have then i do not see away around that, you could get a taxi there and back at a cost of 10 pound, its a bit of a silly comment i think.

Rather than complain could he suggest an improvement? It's a centre of town doctors which is ideal for many patients as we can walk there.

If he wants a Doctor surgery with a huge carpark perhaps he should change to another doctors surgery which is not in the centre of town and so has the carpark space he needs?
