In today's Gazette: Grammar school to expand

In today's Gazette: Leading selective school Colchester County High School for Girls is to expand.

The school will take an extra 28 students a year - and its male counterpart Colchester Royal Grammar School may also follow suit.

* Shocked staff from a village shop near Braintree are celebrating after their syndicate won more than £2 million on the lottery.

* Police have called on the authorities to close a Colchester store selling legal highs after a teenager was admitted to hospital.

* Detectives have vowed to continue the hunt for the killers of teenager Jay Whiston - six months after his death.

Police have taken more than 400 statements and appealed for more witnesses to come forward. Jay's mother Caroline Shearer called the people protecting the killer "sewer rats" and said the family had been destroyed by Jay's murder.
