Dedham dinner debacle - woman arrested

A woman has been arrested after diners failed to pay for a meal at an upmarket restaurant.

Four people, three men and a woman, dined at Milsoms in Stratford Road, Dedham, on the evening of February 16.

They ran up a bill of £520 including quaffing two bottles of Don Perignon champagne, three bottles of wine and ten courses between them.

However, they then forgot their manners and left without paying the bill.

Now a 46-year-old woman from Colchester has been arrested on suspicion of making off without payment. She was bailed until April pending further inquiries.

Champagne and Cavier tastes with Pomaigne and Pork pockets!

Serves them right, hope they are made to pay the bill, named and shamed and all of them prosecuted.

Yes, my heart goes out to the restaurant's multi-milionaire owner.
No, really.

Make them do the washing-up. The Gazette should negotiate a half price deal at Milsoms so we can all visit the scene of the crime.

Surely it is irrelevant how many millions the owner has!

Eating a meal and then deliberately leaving without paying the bill is plain wrong whether it be Harrods or McDonalds,

Thank god this woman has been caught, if she wont name the others involved then she should have to pay the whole bill herself, it might make her think twice about it in the future.

So on that basis all theft from Sainsburys ,Tescos, any other major High Street retailer we shouldn't prosecute because they're rich. ????

If a group of people go to dine together at a restaurant, I think you will find they are jointly and severally liable, meaning that the restaurant can require any one of them to pay the entire cost.

Please see this person's comment as above Mr-La-De-Da-Gunner-G

raham.

I just hope he/she never has anything stolen. It doesn't make any difference if the person is rich or poor, its still against the law to steal something that is not yours, and that is what these four so called people did.

By the standards of many people in this country, let alone around the world, you would be considered rich. You have a computer or I-phone, you have the means to access the web. You may not consider yourself rich (I don´t know you, maybe you are).

By your implication, it would therefore be OK if a homeless person, or somebody who cannot afford such things, were to steal your stuff.

Theft is theft, no matter who it is from.

And your chosen path of rebellion is the comments section of the local rag? Very radical.

Is Don Perignon champagne a cheap version of Dom Perignon
champagne? Don Perignon sounds like something Del Trotter would have sold.

I think that's an unfair comment coming from you Boris,
but something your MP may have also said.
Always thought of you as Intelligentsia,
but now have lowered yourself into Mr gobble de gook Gunner Grahams realm.

Does Mr gobble de gook Gunner Graham not have the same political leanings of yourself Boris,
thoughts of Tory boy automatons surrounding you also?

Jeff, I meant no offence to the law-abiding denizens of "your" Jaywick or other sun-drenched parts of our beautiful Essex coastline. It was just that carnuts said it was good that Mr Graham had moved away from Colchester, and I wanted to hignlight that he might not have moved very far.
There are criminals everywhere, and we just have to hope that they will pick on someone else rather than us, but it will happen to most of us one day, if it hasn't already.
And I don't know what Mr Gunner Graham's political leanings are, he seems a bit of a loose cannon to me.
