In today's Gazette: Drive-by revenge shooting

In today's Gazette: A man carried out a drive-by shooting at a nightclub in revenge for being thrown out, a court heard.

Dean Edwards, 38, of Braintree, is accused of firing three shots at TP's sports bar in Queen Street, Colchester, after bouncers told him to leave. Edwards, and friend Michael Cooper,40,  of Clacton, both deny possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. The trial continues.

* A documentary produced by Essex University tutor Sheryl Crown has won an Oscar.

* Champagne quaffing diners who left a restaurant without paying a £520 bill have said they will pick up the tab.

One of the diners, who left Milsoms in Dedham without paying, contacted the posh restaurant after CCTV images were printed in The Gazette.

* One of Colchester's oldest independent shops has closed. Horbury's Bathroom Supplies in Sir Isaac's Walk, has shut after 36 years trading in the town.
