Quarry operators recognised for standards

NORTH Essex quarry operators have been recognised for their high standards.
Essex County Council gave gold awards to Wivenhoe Quarry operator Lafarge Tarmac and Bradwell site operators Blackwater Aggregates Ltd.
The prizes, awarded by the Mineral Working and Active Landfill Sites Environmental Award Scheme, recognise a high overall standard in planning control and the minimising of the environmental impact caused by the sites’ day to day business.
They also reward consideration of the local community and other demonstrations of good practice.
Bretts Aggregates, in Brightlingsea, and W H Collier which runs Marks Tey Brickworks claimed silver prizes, while operators in Birch, Fingringhoe and Stanway were among those who got bronze awards.
