Jim Jennings, 58, collapsed after suffering heart failure but friend Tony Foster gave him the kiss of life and kept him alive for 20 minutes until medics took over.

* A mum-of-two has been jailed for stealing tens of thousands of pounds from her employer.

Angela Dunne, 44, of Witham, got away with £58,000 and was jailed for nine months after admitting 16 charges of fraud, false accounting and theft.

* Colchester is to hold its own comedy festival featuring stars including Jimmy Carr and Richard Herring.

* Great Anglia has been ranked the second worst rail company in a Which? passenger survey.

And when just commuters were surveyed, the operator, which runs trains from Colchester to London, came last.
