The direction the ruling classes are taking this country, it's no wonder: The people at the bottom of the pile, the poor, the excluded, are fast becoming destitute.

with backs against the wall, with the chronic jobs situation, severe cuts to income and benefits, exploding food prices, fuel poverty.

Young parents are turning to any means possible, 'even dishonesty' determined to feed their children.

Make no mistake, I dont condone theft, I make no excuses for dishonesty, lazyness, and those who take drugs.

But I do believe that consecutive governments, the policy makers, greedy employers, and those who control our nations wealth, have been letting us all down in the most criminal way.

The way things are going, I dread to say..I can envisage a repeat of the events of the 1980's, 'lest we forget' The poll tax disturbances, and civil unrest that left us a divided nation.

Not again surely ??

25414nora is spot on, the poor are becoming poorer under this government while the rich are getting richer. Those on benefits, the less well off without rich parents to bail them out, will turn to crime to look after their families. Hunger isn't nice, even the day to day essentials are becoming harder to pay for, those that are poorer will steal to put food on the table, simple.

I totally agree with the rest of what you say but in this case i believe that this part is the truth....

"Make no mistake, I dont condone theft, I make no excuses for dishonesty, lazyness, and those who take drugs."

Surely if this was about being poor and feeding her family she would be stealing fruit and veg not alcohol.
