Campaign to force repairs at cracked and "dangerous" paving

Campaign to force repairs at cracked and "dangerous" paving Campaign to force repairs at cracked and "dangerous" paving

CAMPAIGN has been launched to force repairs to a shoddy stretch of pavement.

Sir Bob Russell, Colchester MP, is leading calls to fix paving slabs outside the Magistrates’ Court in St Botolph’s Circus.

But Highways bosses said that although the pavement looked “unpleasant” they do not deem it a safety hazard.

Residents can report highways defects at www.essex.gov.uk or by calling 0845 603 7631.

Full reaction in Thursday's Gazette.

Why not choose your priorities Bob! This just happens to be the route, past the magistrates court, that Bob walks to his constituency office. Pity he's not more interested or pro-active about highlighting pedestrian safety in other areas of his constituency, particularly where he has repeatedly ignored residents concerns.

This is actually VERY dangerous and I was just thinking as I walked back home that something should be done and wondered who I can contact.

How they say its 'not dangerous' is beyond me as random bits of slab are sticking up 2-3inches.

My pregnant partner has to walk that way each night and its a worry.

Hope something gets done.

May be sir bob, should focus his attentions on more important issues around his constituency than cracked paving.

Take a walk around your constituency Bob, this is no different to dozens, if not hundreds, of other locations.

Right back to Bob's early days as a councillor, broken paving slabs. Why doesn't he leave such matters to people still trying to make a name for themselves?

There are loads of paths in the borough that need sorting out.... Also loads of roads... Where is the money we pay in our council tax going??? Could it be cuts to the highways paying for the VAF????

We can't be frittering away money on repairing the pavement when there are people in Greenstead that need new fences.
