A12 delay warning in second night of delays
6:39pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
MOTORISTS face long delays heading home this evening after congestion along a 25 mile stretch of the A12.
The Essex Traffic Control Centre has issued an alert for the northbound carriageway as traffic is slow-moving from Sandon at junction 18 to the Ardleigh Crown Interchange at junction 29.
The chaos follows severe problems around Colchester yesterday evening with a four-hour road closure on the A12 after a bus and a lorry collided.

Why???
Why are they having another night of problems of getting home?
The lanes are open and there is the same traffic on the road going in the same direction. I suppose the cops are out there playing with the traffic again!

.
One solution might be to operate the speed control system used on parts of the M25. It seems traffic moves faster despite having a reduced maximum speed.
.
Changing some sliproad access might help to ensure drivers merge smoothly with existing traffic. I have always hated the Spring lane access to the A12 that turns into a single lane for about 200 yards and a lane is unused. Impatient drivers can get somewhat frustrated!
