Academic discusses asylum seekers and language

LANGUAGE testing for asylum seekers will be discussed at an academic talk.
Professor Peter Patrick, from Essex University’s language and linguistics department, will talk about how immigrants’ mother tongue is used to assess their background.
His talk Passport in the tongue! Language testing of asylum seekers to determine origin is part of the Cafe Scientifique series.
The free event takes place at The Minories, 74 High Street, Colchester, on Wednesday February 13 with doors opening at 6.30pm and the talk starting at 7pm.
