I have been on scooter ride outs where young Maureen was there also, and so I know of her enthusiasm.
While I read with great Interest your comments, the thing is Boris, your sadly wrong.
Lambrettas were stopped production in the few different countries that produced them some years ago,
Italy, Spain and India being some.
but vespas not only are still in production in Italy "again", but India has never stopped producing them, and other countries I believe,Including some older series being built/cloned in soviet Russia at one time.
The last few years or so have seen LML versions modernised far greatly with the introduction of ergonomic 4 stroke engines as a choice from its oil injected 2 stroke engines.
the Indian built copy under license has been sold succesfuly all over the world including most states of America under its Stella brand name, plus the UK brand name of LML
For the most strictest of emission compliance laws in USA, the 4 stroke versions easily passes its tests for use, while other loving owners in the majority of states still use the pop poping noise of its 2 strokes.
Italy is rumoured to be considering banning its 2 stroke in major cities also!
For years vespa clones were as of good if not better then original built versions, prompting Vespas italian factories to begin rebuilding the vespa seen in the picture, but, by using many LML manufactored componants.

2 or 4 stroke, modern day scootering excells its self on production and enjoying front disc braking of far greater superiority than the older Lambrettas of your choice.
(the rare Lambretta front disc brake was never succesfull)

Now, Lambrettas, or its clones, Boris, can you remember the last year of any world wide countries production?

Vespas we still purchase,
Lambrettas can only be purchased as old scooters, rebuilt & modernised.

noisey but nice smelling 2t versions,
but of course Boris. :)
