Hythe Station Cafe faces closure next month

A STRUGGLING family-run cafe is preparing to close next month.

Owners of Hythe Station Cafe, on Hythe Station Road, have been forced to give up their pitch after they got into financial difficulties.

The cafe has been struggling for the past few months, with owner Terry Slade pumping in £13,000 of his own money into keeping it alive.

It is set to close at the end of February, although there is a possibility it could get a reprieve.

That, I suspect, is the problem. Location is everything, and there is not much passing traffic there, and not many factories or offices close by. It´s a shame to see any place go bust, but if most people don´t know you´re there, it´s always going to be an uphill struggle.

But now more people know where it is a cup of tea when passing can only help.
Make a point of stopping and help it become a community cafe

such a shame as this was definately the best cafe in Colchester if not indeed Essex.I will miss it deeply as it was a great place to eat and always a lovely friendly atmosphere there.
