A JAM factory worker was taken to hospital after splashing hot lemon curd on his face.

The man, in his 20s, was working for Thursday Cottage, which is owned by Wilkin & Sons, in Brook Road, Tiptree, when the accident occurred at 8.26am on Tuesday.

The patient was taken to Broomfield Hospital, near Chelmsford, before being discharged later the same day.

Owners praised the quick response from the emergency services and have sent the employee home to recover.

I wanted to know because sometimes the Gazette uses stock images for incidents like this. I can't believe it was required to get a someone to hospital who was released the same day what an utter waste of money.

Perhaps it was deemed necessary when the 999 call was made. Potentially, the person could have been blinded.

Well perhaps the NHS could save a few quid by patching all 999 calls to you as you are clearly and expert on telephone diagnosis.

Or instead why don't you get someone to chuck molten sugar in your face and then let us know your thoughts on the importance of swift care.

So what was it, lemon curd or "molten syrup"?. Syrup is a liquid by nature so quite how it can be molten is a mystery.
