Driving instructor scoops road safety award

A COLCHESTER driving instructor has been named as the Michelin Road Safety Champion.

Karl Rushen, who runs Streetlife Driving School, which covers Colchester, Chelmsford and Braintree, scooped the annual award for his efforts to make roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

In September 2011, he set up Streetlife Young Driver Education, which provides road safety education sessions and driving lessons to 15 and 16-year-olds at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

His aim is to teach youngsters safe driving habits before they reach the leal age to drive.

Mr Rushen is set to pick up his award on Tuesday night at a ceremony at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
