ESTATE agents David Martin Group raised £3,500 for for Macmillan Cancer Support by donating profits from house sales.

The firm, which has branches in the Hythe, Tiptree and Lexden, donated money for every property listed and then again when the property was sold.

Director Steve Wright said: “The response we’ve had from our customers has been so positive and it has been great to see all the staff getting behind it too.

“It’s a great feeling to know the money we have raised is going to help people affected by cancer.”

Staff also took part in a fun run and held a coffee morning, raising a further £250.

Claire Husband, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said “It is a superb amount of money to raise in six months.

“The £3,500 could be used to fund a family support worker for a month or keep one of our information centres, such as the one at North Essex Hospital, running for a month.”

"David Martin estate agents home in the fight cancer"

Does anyone ever read the headline before pressing the publish button? Or is that too much effort?

Amateurish.

This paper is run on a shoestring and it has to be because there is not the money from adverts any more. Yes it is regrettable when the headlines don't make sense, but better that than no paper at all.
