Work underway on major new Stanway store
3:11pm Tuesday 8th January 2013 in News
WORK has begun to create a major new store in Stanway.
Argos is expected to open its new £1.1 million shop at Tollgate Retail Park in May.
This week work began on transforming the site, which was formerly an Allied Carpets shop.
When the new Argos store opens later this year it will create 40 new jobs.
See Wednesday's Gazette for the full story and reaction.

My wife and I did this several times in December for bulky purchases at Jack's or Argos, and only once did a traffic warden move her on.
The new Argos in Stanway will make it easier to pick up orders made online. The town store has no nearby parking and bulky items are difficult to collect.

Yes please! Much more convenient then going to town. I'm one to drive to Braintree cinema instead of Odeon so the colchester council don't get the satisfaction of thefting my change!

another nail in the coffin for the town centre. more support for out of town shopping from a council that is not supporting local traders
