HISTORY lovers are getting the chance to take part in a unique event - and raise money for charity.

Colchester Castle is to close this month for a major refurbishment.

While it is clear of exhibits the  Norman keep is being used as the venue for an Elizabethan evening in aid of the Essex-based charity Headway.

Guests at the event are being invited to dress up as their favourite historical character - either real of mythical.

Suggestions include Blackadder, Robin Hood, peasants or Queen Elizabeth herself.

A three course meal will be on offer as well as music and entertainment.

Money raised will go to Headway Essex, which cares for survivors of brain injuries and their families.

The event is on March 23 and for more information, go to the charity's website at www.headwayessex.org.uk.
