Concerns raisd over Colchester's crime panel representative
6:54pm Monday 26th November 2012 in News By Will Lodge
Councillor Tim Young
DOUBTS have been cast over a crime panel member’s fitness to serve by the body representing cops in Essex.
Councillor Tim Young represents Colchester Council on the Police and Crime Panel for Essex, which scrutinises the work of new police commissioner Nick Alston.
The Essex Police Federation said it had concerns about his appointment as Mr Young has a conviction for dangerous driving dating from June 2001, but the councillor said this raised as part of a politically motivated attack.
- Read more about the Police Federation concerns and Mr Young's response in Tuesday's Gazette.

I think Councillor Young should do the honourable thing in this matter and step aside from the Police and Crime Panel for Essex
Besides he has more then enough to sort out up on Greenstead where thuggery, anti-social behaviour and drug dealing etc are on the rise.
This is destroying people's lives.
Furthermore the local doctors surgery appears to be at breaking point.
And you have a better chance of contacting the dead than getting a meaningful reply from the staff at Colchester Borough Homes.
These are just a few of the issues affecting people's lives on the Greenstead estate.
There used to be a phrase a few years ago about a certain councillor called "two jobs ..."
Councillor Young is the councillor for St Andrews he should focus on that job or resign from being a councillor.

In my opinion party politics divides communities and causes more problems.

it is about time they went back to Clacton On Sea where they come from we have all had enough.
the scuffle with poor old Dr Hall in the Town Chambers..
The farce and quite dangerous incident with Essex Police followed by The "Youve Changed My Life" famous words in the TV show "Wife Swap" you wish???
go away they will never be MP for Colchester as know one wants them on the job...
it is now turning into the biggest joke since colchester tried to become a city, followed by loosing the Military Tattoo followed by First site VAF...Followed by the £Millions lost at the Sports Centre Fiasco...
using the town like this in this way for personal note and gain is a sad and sorry way to go about ones business...get a life!!!..Nick Alston is one of the great choices for Essex virtually a James Bond style former life and background the ideal man for the job with the Licence To Kill Crime...being associated with so called self imposed mr big or mr Blow-His-Top is not the way colchester wants to be seen.
why should this person be interviewing our new Commission boss? what pedigree does they have in the questions to ask on our behalf.
Mr Alston's father was Deputy CC of Essex Police, Mr Alston himself has a Military Intelligence background at Officer level, with the Civillian credentials to match...allowing this person on this chair would be a bit like asking Arthur Daily to question the queen over what is the quality of her art works like...

Even more unbelievable that he was accepted for it. Presumably people in other parts of Essex were ignorant of the Middleborough incident.
If Mr Young stays on this panel, it will damage Mr Alston's credibility.

If Tim Young can't or won't give St Andrews / Greenstead his full attention he should resign as our councillor.
Make your mind up Councillor Young?

I repeat he has no business on this panel because his focus should be on sorting out the problems on St Andrews / Greenstead which have gotten out of hand.

If you Greenstead people are not happy with that, then you should vote for somebody else next time. But Labour have such a strong grip on Greenstead that they could put up a lamp-post as candidate and it would be elected.
The reason he should not be on the police panel is his past record.
