UPDATED: A12 reopened after crash

THE A12 has been re-opened northbound after a crash between a motorbike and a car.

The motorcyclist suffered two broken arms after the crash.

The man, in his early 20s, was riding a red Suzuki GSF650 motorbike and collided with a silver Ford Galaxy.

The accident happened at 5pm today on the northbound carriageway between junction 28 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and junction 29 the Ardleigh Crown Interchange.

Traffic was being diverted through Colchester around the scene of the crash causing long delays for motorists, with tailbacks as far as Kelvedon.

Four vehicles were also involved in an minor accident on the opposite carriageway close to the stadium junction, which led to one lane being closed for about 30 minutes while it was cleared.
