"I will change" - banned brother writes to Gazette from his prison cell "I will change" - banned brother writes to Gazette from his prison cell

A MAN banned from Colchester due to his frequent offending has written exclusively to the Gazette - promising to fight the order.

Kelvin Mathers, 31, is currently serving a prison term in Chelmsford jail.

He and brother, Ashley, 29, were banned from the entire borough of Colchester after clocking up 80 convictions between them.

In a frank letter, written from his prison cell, Kelvin apologised for his previous actions and said he wants quit the drink.

Excerpt from the letter:

"To Colchester Gazette,

"I am writing this because I am not happy about this injunction banning me from Colchester.

"I have done some bad things in life and I am sorry to some of the people.

"I have not got into any trouble when not drunk so I will have to get help - and I can do it."

Kelvin Mathers: Prisoner number A329OAY, HMP Chelmsford.

The full letter, pictures and full report ONLY in Thursday's Colchester.

All the best with your change program but many people including myself don't want your kind in Colchester. I'm in favor of the ban being for life.

I wasn't willing to give this any of my reading time because he doesn't deserve the oxygen of publicity.

Who is going to pay for you to fight this order? Probably the poor old tax payer again (imagine you don't fall into that category). You are already getting free board and lodgings at the moment - what more do you want? Accept your actions and don't blame others for what you have done.
