In today's Gazette: Businesses in Colchester have been left in the dark by a power cut which lasted more than 48 hours.

A taxi firm boss said he was £2,000 out of pocket while other businesses also lost trade.

* An award-winning fish and chip shop has been battered by the threat of legal action by the creators of cartoon character Scooby Doo.

Scooby Snax in Church Road, Brightlingsea, has been forced to change its name after Hanna Barbera threatened to sue.

* A teenage driver is due to appear in court after his car went off the road and crashed into an historic cottage.

The 18-year-old from Tiptree has been charged with drink driving after his car went off Bourne Road and flew into the air hitting the cottage.

* A school bus driver has been fined for running the gauntlet at Manningtree level crossing. Marcus Lamm, 21, of Jaywick, had dropped off the children before he tried to squeeze through the barriers at the railway line.
