Business start-up project at bus station comes to an end
10:47am Sunday 28th October 2012 in News
A SUCCESSFUL project which has supported more than a dozen start-up businesses in Colchester has come to an end.
The Creative Co-op held a finale event with the final occupants, Cicely and Pauline’s African and Caribbean Café, on Saturday.
The event was held at Kiosk Number One next to Colchester Bus Station’s waiting room.
Marc De’ath, from the Creative Co-op, said the scheme has been running for more than 18 months at two disused kiosks at Colchester bus station’s old waiting room.
He said: “We worked with the council to open them up for the public to use at weekends
“It has been a pop-up shop scheme for retail start-ups and has been really successful.
“We will be working with the council to look at the future use of the whole building.”
As part of the finale, the café ran a cooking demonstration. The scheme was part of regeneration plans for the St Botolph’s Quarter.
