AN INVENTOR claims his Dragon’s Den style innovation will change the building industry.

Graham Marfleet, MD of Marfleet Construction, has produced the A-Scaler - a ruler which helps builders accurately measure architect’s drawings.

He said: “People keep saying I should take it on Dragon’s Den, but I don’t have any plans to do that yet.

“It seems so simple that I can’t believe no one had invented it before."

Mr Marfleet noticed that most small construction companies did not have the equipment to print off full-sized architects plans, which are typically A1 sized.

Instead, they have to down-scale to A3 or A4 and use complicated maths, or approximate measurements, to work out the dimensions.

He photocopied a full sized ruler, printed it out at a reduced size and the first A-Scaler was born.

For more pictures, history of the innovation and Mr Marfleet's hopes for the product see Wednesday's Gazette.

Hope he has put a patient on it if it was his idea!

jammin: I don't think you would want to put a "patient" on Mr Marfleet's ruler. A hospital bed would be more suitable for a "patient".
