Mass murderer Jeremy Bamber will die in prison.

The 47-year-old is serving life for shooting his adoptive parents, Nevill and June, sister Sheila Caffell and her six-year-old sons Daniel and Nicholas.

He slaughtered all five of them in August 1985 at the family farmhouse in Tolleshunt D'Arcy.

Bamber had asked for a minimum jail term to be set so he could one day be freed.

Yesterday Mr Justice Tugendhat said that the murders were exceptionally serious and ruled he should never be freed.

Bamber has always protested his innocence, claiming his sister, who was a model known as Bambi, could have killed the others before turning the gun on herself.

I think Bamber should stay in prison for the rest of his life. Then again, I think all convicted murderers should serve a 'full life term' in jail.

However, this decision does send out mixed messages in that some murderers are free within Ten years, whilst the high profile cases have to spend the rest of their life in prison....that is wrong!

All murderers should stay locked up forever!

It is also wrong that those who persist with their claim for innocence are given longer terms just because the parole system considers they have not accepted responsibility for the crime they were found guilty of.

Bamber may well have done the murders but with the lack of real, hard evidence there is no doubt that he was wrongly convicted simply because there was reasonable doubt.

Just because we might not like someone or the fact that someone has to pay for such a horrid crime there was not enough to convince that he was guilty without reasonable doubt.

And that is the law

He should get a re-trial at the bare minimum
