There were a lot of head-turning outfits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, with celebs going all out for the Chinese-themed bash.

Beyonce appeared to have rolled around in coloured jewels then left the house, Rihanna had a huge yellow cape, while Solange Knowles could barely use her arms her dress was so cumbersome.

But when Sarah Jessica Parker emerged on the red carpet, all eyes were on her towering flame-like headpiece.

For the theme China: Through the Looking Glass, the 50-year-old Sex and the City star paid homage to Chinese culture and its Western interpretations with a Philip Treacy custom headpiece. The red tassels are similar to the Phoenix Crown that brides traditionally wear when they get married. It could also be a nod to the Buddhist gods Four Heavenly Kings, or the flame haired mascots from the 2008 Beijing Olympics (maybe more unlikely).

Her dress, which she’d designed with H&M (sadly not available in your local store) was embroided with Chinese silks.

None the less, Twitter had some fun.

We think she looked awesome but whatever.
