It’s that time of the year again when the most stylish people from the world of showbiz strut their stuff at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Benefit Gala in New York.

Join us as we look at some of the best and worst fashion to grace the red carpet over the years:

Best dressed: Taylor Swift is a vision in pink.

Worst dressed: we’ll always remember 2013 as the year Kim Kardashian wore this carpet-like floral explosion. Soz Kim, but you can do better.

Best dressed: Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t disappoint in this Cinderella-esque gown from Oscar de la Renta, complete with a signature scrawled on the train.

Worst dressed: Ok, so we get that the official theme was Punk: From Chaos to Couture, but Madonna’s just taken it one step too far. There’s punk and then there’s stuck in a fashion funk.

Best dressed: Beyonce in this black Givenchy creation is just gorgeous and flawless.

Worst dressed: Emma Watson’s normally flawless fashion suffered a minor hiccup. As stunning as this Prabal Gurung number is, we’re not feeling it on Ms Watson.

Best dressed: Victoria Beckham’s body-hugging strapless gown is bold but sheer sartorial perfection on her.

Worst dressed: Cameron Diaz looks like she’s raided the closet of someone many years her senior. Even though this is Stella McCartney and we feel like we should be obliged to like it, we’re just not sure the cape is Cameron’s “thing”.
