Davina McCall is joining the team at This Morning to whip the nation into shape for summer.

The fitness-mad presenter will take over as guest editor and appear with Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden on the ITV show on April 27 to guide viewers through the best exercises, stretches and healthy eating recipes to slim down for the new season.

She said: “I absolutely love This Morning and to be able to spend an entire morning with Phillip and Amanda is going to be such a laugh. I hope to be able to bring lots of hints and tips on how to lead a happy, healthy life – brace yourself This Morning!”

Show editor Pete Ogden said: “We are thrilled to have Davina here during this time and I’m sure she will make a great guest editor – although not too great I hope!”

This Morning also recently launched Run For Your Life, a feature fronted by Nell McAndrew to train beginners to run a 5k race in five weeks, and Dr Dawn Harper will be comparing popular diets.

Davina recently renewed her wedding vows to husband of 15 years Matthew Robertson in Las Vegas and said that thanks to her healthy routine, she was confident enough to wear a bikini when they visited Los Angeles.

She told the Daily Mirror: “You know what the women are like there, all hot, washboard stomachs… Matthew said, ‘I love the fact that you walk out here that confident – even I feel a bit shy coming out of the pool without a towel.’

“He’s got an amazing body so I couldn’t quite believe it, but I was thrilled. I’m 47 and hot! Of course I’m going to have a little bit of jelly belly, but I think I look great for my age.

“I feel more confident now than I did when I was 20. That’s what health and fitness has done. Now I want other women to have that same confidence as me.”

The mum of three also explained how she had arranged the vow renewal in secret: “At lunch I leant over to Matthew and went, ‘Darling, I have something to run by you… I have planned for us to go to the Little White Wedding Chapel and renew our vows.’ He was like, ‘Oh my God! That is so embarrassing!’

“Matthew’s next words were, ‘I don’t need to wear anything do I?’ He thought I was going to slide off and put on my wedding dress. But we went as we were. I had white shorts and a white top on – I thought that was quite bridal.

“I didn’t have an Elvis, though. I thought that might push Matthew over the edge.”
