Listen to the classics for free in Colchester
9:30am Tuesday 18th October 2011 in Arts & Leisure By Neil D'Arcy-Jones
The popular series of free classical lunchtime concerts continues at Lion Walk Church, Colchester, on Wednesday.
The latest event, organised by the church’s director of music, Ian Ray, will see Francesaca Leonardi (violin) with Nigel Clayton (piano), Rounding off the month, on October 26, will be Christopher Slatter (cello) with Daniel Law (piano).
At the start of November, it’s the 25th anniversary of the opening of the new church building.
To mark this occasion, there’s the Aquillo Trio on November 2, Clementi's final sonata for piano played by Daniel Law on November 9, organist Gillian Ward-Russell on November 16 and a special concert, entitled Spare Parts, on November 23.
The series finishes on November 30 with Prelude to Christmas, a programme of music and readings for the season of Advent.
All the concerts start at 1pm, but there will be light lunches available before the concert, from 12.15pm, and a charity collection.
