Even Nine are on after nine in Colchester
9:30am Saturday 15th October 2011 in Arts & Leisure By Neil D'Arcy-Jones
One of the country’s hottest unsigned bands makes a welcome return to the Bull, in Colchester, tomorrow.
Even Nine may be a Cornish band, but they have a big connection with the town, as Jody and Rick Martin were born here.
They moved to Cornwall when they were four and six respectively and formed their first band at the tender ages of 13 and 15.
Since then, they have flitted from bands with each other to separate projects.
First and foremost a singer-songwriter, Jody also plays guitar and drums and played more than 150 gigs in two years with former band Loco in Cornwall.
Rick can also play classical guitar, bass, piano and mandolin. After graduating from the London Music School in 2000, he returned to Cornwall and has been writing, recording and performing with Jody and fellow band-mate Brett Stepto ever since.
Even Nine were recently tipped as one of the hottest unsigned bands in the music industry’s trade magazine Music Week.
They play the Bull’s Soundhouse from 9.30pm.
