A biannual marathon aimed at walkers returns later this month.

Organised by the Essex and Herts group of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA), the 19th Blackwater Marathon takes place on October 29, starting between 8am and 9.30am, from Thurstable School, in Maypole Road, Tiptree.

As well as the 26-mile marathon, there is also an 18-mile route, with both passing through Goldhanger and Tolleshunt D’Arcy.

Organisers of the event said it was not a race and was primarily aimed at walkers, although runners were also welcome.

Drinks and snacks will be provided at two checkpoints on the 18-mile route and at three checkpoints on the marathon route, while a meal and drinks will also be served at the finish.

Entry is priced at £6 for LDWA members and £8 for non-members, and closes on October 24.

Forms can be downloaded via the group activities section of the Essex and Herts LDWA website at ldwa.org
