A HISTORIC Colchester landmark will play host to a theatrical and entertaining evening early next year.
Colchester Museums is hosting its first ever Roman themed murder mystery event at Colchester Castle, in High Street, on March 9, 2024.
Attendees will be transported back to the politically charged world of ancient Rome, in 54 AD, as participants are introduced to Emperor Claudius’s life.
Bosses at Colchester Museums said: "Emperor Claudius has found himself entangled in a web of intrigue.
“His third wife's sudden divorce agreement, a suspiciously close relationship between his mistress and her son, a badly behaving-chief eunuch, and a Senate determined to foil his plans.
“Thus begins an evening of murderous comedy, politics, plumbing, and peanuts.”
Tickets cost £35 per person and guests will be able to mingle with the professional actors who will be bringing the characters to life and providing crucial clues to help solve the mystery.
Councillor Michelle Burrows, who is the portfolio holder for leisure, culture, and heritage, believes the event will be an entertaining experience.
Michelle said: “This night promises to be an unforgettable and enchanting event, providing a unique blend of history, mystery, and immersive entertainment.
“Whether you are a history enthusiast, a fan of murder mystery, or simply looking for a thrilling and engaging night out, this event is not to be missed.”
Doors open at 7pm for the 18+ event and you can find out more information on how to purchase tickets via tinyurl.com/4xdb5sff.
